How often have you seen “retrain” as a corrective action following an incident? And then the employee is forced to attend the exact training program they’ve attended many times before. How’s that been working for you? Initial and refresher training are important, and they play a critical role in safety. At the same time, the underlying issue is not addressed by simple retraining after an incident. If you’re caught in the “action trap,” let’s look at ways to get out and have impact. In this session, we’ll review the original four-step results pyramid – and then add two missing steps. Using this revised results pyramid, we’ll explore the full process for getting safety results and identify additional barriers that prevent people from taking desired actions. Let’s leave the action trap behind and move toward high-performance safety.
