Hazard identification, assessment and control are foundational to many best practices – from OSHA to safety management systems. Assessing risks to worker safety and health are paramount to the prevention of injuries and illnesses. This practice is also foundational to serious injury and fatality prevention strategies. Quantitative risk assessment is just one of the tools available to employers. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to carry out assessments of risk associated with work tasks. Using observation of real work tasks as our “classroom,” we’ll dissect these tasks into their component parts, learn to evaluate exposure, detail injury types that could arise from such tasks, and quantify the likelihood and severity of each. You’ll be able to apply this risk assessment methodology at your workplace – enabling a method to prioritize safety concerns and adding a leading indicator to measure safety improvements beyond injury rate reduction.
