Leading and Lagging Metrics for SIF Prevention (NEW)
Approved 2
In the dynamic landscape of workplace safety, 2025 stands as a transformative moment for safety performance. Serious injuries and fatalities persist as a major concern. The traditional focus on lagging indicators and low-consequence incidents leaves critical gaps in leadership engagement, targeted resources and system design. Although some have found success in preventing SIFs, it has been in isolation from standard industry practice, and ahead of the understanding from regulators, investors and business executives. This session takes us beyond total recordable incident rate as a performance metric and focuses on a global standard for measuring injury and illness performance as well as global metrics for the prevention of SIFs. We’ll also touch on controls and methods of practice to prioritize and prevent SIF events and the role of leadership in fostering a culture of shared responsibility and engagement across all levels of an organization
