Advancing Safety Excellence: Implementing the NSC's SIF Prevention Model and Risk Assessment Tools
Approved 2
Work-related fatalities have remained flat or slightly increased over the past decade, even as total recordable incident rates (TRIR) have significantly declined across industries. This troubling disparity highlights the need for targeted strategies to address Serious Incidents and Fatalities (SIFs). In this seminar, participants will explore the core elements and tools of NSC’s SIF Prevention Model, a framework designed to identify and mitigate the unique precursors and high-risk scenarios linked to SIFs. Using risk assessment tools and high-hazard scenarios, participants will enhance hazard identification, prioritize critical controls, and address systemic factors driving serious incidents. Through interactive discussions, hands-on exercises, and case studies, attendees will gain actionable strategies to close the gap between traditional safety methods and innovative techniques for prioritizing SIF risks, fostering a culture of safety excellence to protect their workforce.
