Scaling Solutions for Prevention of MSD Prevention: A Review of the MSD Solutions Lab Pilot Grant Winners Projects

The MSD Solutions Lab awarded funding in 2023 to aid in the creation of solutions to eliminate or reduce risk from manual materials handling. Winners of the 2023 Safety Innovation Challenge were invited to collaborate with an industry partner (and current MSD Pledge member) to develop solutions. This session will highlight what the grant winners learned and invite discussion on scaling their innovative solutions. Projects include work to mitigate hand-arm vibration among tool operators; collection and analysis of ergonomic data to identify and address risks caused by upper-extremity work and heavy lifting; evaluation of in-house capabilities for digitized risk assessments; and use of video motion-capture technology to quantify the impact of existing safety programs.
