Are You SAFE or Are You Just Being COMPLIANT? Should You Implement a Daily Wear FR/AR Clothing Program?hing Program”
When selecting flame-resistant (FR) and arc-rated (AR) clothing, compliance alone may fall short of true safety. Under OSHA 1910.132, training on PPE is mandatory for professionals in petroleum, electrical, and oil and gas industries – especially for workers exposed to thermal hazards. Yet, one of today’s biggest challenges in arc flash protection is deciding between a daily wear or a task-based approach. This session will clarify the responsibilities safety professionals face in training employees on when, what and how to wear AR clothing. We’ll address the strengths and limitations of both the daily wear and the task-based approach, balancing compliance with practical safety, and overcoming workplace pushback to foster a proactive safety culture.
