Heat Stress is an Occupational Hazard: Prevention, Recognition, and Treatment of Exertional Heat Illnesses
This presentation will examine heat stress as a critical occupational hazard, exploring its influence on workplace health and performance. It’s crucial to give employees and supervisors the tools necessary to recognize the signs and symptoms of exertional heat illnesses so emergency response protocols can be activated within a timely manner. We’ll delve into the intrinsic and extrinsic factors that cause exertional heat illnesses, as well as signs and symptoms associated with them. We’ll explore proven prevention strategies, including recent “gold standard” treatments such as cold-water immersion for the treatment of exertional heat stroke and other viable options when cold-water immersion is not available.
